The ancient name of Marmaris was Pyhskos, and the city was developed as a port of Caria. If you become overwhelmed by the heat of Marmaris go past the Netsel Marina, through the Yalancı Bogaz (Liar Straight) and then to the picnic ground of Gunnucek. The walking paths are ideal for a stroll amongst nature and away from crowds. The view is very picturesque. |
